How LEONHARD KURZ is translating his innovative strength into an integrated campaign for Drupa 2024

The KURZ Group is a technological innovation leader with a broad solutions portfolio – ranging from machine technology and security to sustainability, digitalization, and efficiency. For drupa 2024, five central themes were in focus, yet they stood side by side in communication and addressed different target groups. The challenge was to strategically bundle this diversity without losing the respective depth of expertise. At the same time, the brand was meant to be clearly positioned as the preferred partner for forward-looking finishing solutions. Without an integrated guiding idea, the complexity of the topics risked diluting the impact of the trade fair presence.

The goal was to unite the five core themes under a strong, strategically grounded campaign claim and position KURZ as a driving force for the future of the industry. The brand was intended to be perceived as an engine of innovation that thinks in connected technologies and creates added value. The pre-drupa phase was designed to build attention and relevance among key target groups and prepare the trade fair communication. Website, social media, landing pages, and the trade fair presence were to work seamlessly together to create a consistent brand experience. A clear dramaturgy from the first contact to the physical trade fair experience was crucial.

Five strategic core themes were united under a clear guiding idea and communicated consistently.

The brand appeared not only as a technology provider but as a holistic innovation partner.

All touchpoints – from social media to the trade fair booth – felt seamlessly integrated.

The drupa presence evolved from a single exhibition appearance into an orchestrated brand experience with high recognizability.

STRATEGY
Transformational Branding Framework
Strategy

Through research, target group interviews, and an analysis of brand performance, competition, and trends, a solid strategic foundation was established. In workshops and design sprints, the five thematic areas were translated into an overarching brand strategy. The result was a clear positioning that combines innovative strength with a partnership-driven mindset. With “Re:think what’s possible.”, a modular claim was created in the spirit of naming and claiming, strategically uniting all themes and serving as the guiding motif of the campaign.

DESIGN

Design

Based on the strategic foundation, a distinctive, cross-media design logic was developed. Each core theme received its own visual language with a specific symbiosis character, embedded within a consistent design system. The color palette, key visuals, animations, and micro-interactions followed clearly defined design principles. The central key visual served as the visual leitmotif of the entire campaign, making the guiding idea visible across all touchpoints. The modular structure of the claim became an integral part of the visual design.

ACTIVATION

Activation

The campaign was rolled out around six months before the trade fair and activated systematically. Animated and static creatives for social media and LinkedIn, banners, and additional communication assets ensured continuous visibility. Two sequential landing pages guided the target audiences through relevant content up to the trade fair. At drupa itself, the campaign culminated in a staged brand experience – including a live-printed, finished hero poster as a striking highlight. Internal and external rollout measures ensured consistent implementation across all channels.

EXPERIENCE

Digital

The digital experience was specifically aligned with the information needs of the target groups. Wireframes, responsive web design, and a clearly structured information architecture ensured an intuitive user experience. The landing pages served as a content bridge between the pre-campaign and the trade fair presence. At the trade fair booth itself, the thematic worlds were spatially zoned and visually differentiated, allowing visitors to quickly orient themselves and explore topics in greater depth. This created a seamless experience – from the first digital touchpoint to the physical interaction on site.
